Strong agreement here. Just FYI, to me this has the smell of AI-assisted writing (probably Claude?) I feel less incentivized to keep reading as the bold, terse assertions go on and on. I’m also trying to figure out how to incorporate AI into my writing. It produces so many interesting points, I think the challenge is to winnow down the bullet pointed lists to the essentials, and complexify the sentence length and phrasing. Apologies if I’m off base here and disregard.

I was wondering why it felt exhausting to read, despite my broad agreement and interest. I'm glad he did away with the "eyekicks" that AI frequently puts in its writing.

Goodhart's Law: When a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure. A good example of the perverse incentives you discussed is the Calcutta Cobra Bounty:
