This is an outstanding article-the best history I have ever read about the color blue. Articles on blue became popular when YInMn blue was first discovered but I don't recall any of them providing this much information or fascinating detail.

I am mildly surprised that all-wise Mother Nature didn't select a universal plant photosynthetic agent that was more blue in color, which should absorb more sunlight than chlorophyll.

"Red" grapes look pretty blue to me, and aubergines have a blueish tint to them as well. I take this as a reminder that we humans have difficulty doing things that are, um, second nature to Nature.
